The wind of change.

'Meanwhile' has been going for about a year and a half now. It's great to be able to look back at what I have written in all that time (apart from the fact that I lost all my work up to August last year in a nasty computer crash). However, it has to be said that recently I haven't been so good at keeping the 'Reality' going very well. Partly because I am just SO busy, and when I am not I just want to relax in front of the TV and put my brain in park or something.

Those of you who know me will know that my website is looking a little dusty right now. Certain areas of the site haven't been updated in ages, and other areas (like WebWeek and Web Reference) have been quietly suffocated. You see it is hard to keep a website up to date and interesting every week. Even every month is hard enough.

I'd love to be able to spend more time doing my site but the truth is I have other projects that are very time-consuming. MELT and all the MELT sites, take a quite unbelievable amount of time to upkeep. And because they represent my company, which after all pays me and keeps a roof over my head, those sites have to take priority over this one.

It's fair to say that the 'simon.jones' bit of MELT.CO.UK needs a diet. So in the coming months expect to see some changes. I intend to cull the areas of my site that no one ever visits anymore or that are long since dead.

Last week a few of you may have seen a new-look front page to the site. But after Will slated it's 'structureless' I decided to ditch the new-look front page and reinstate the trusty old yellow page. In truth the new front page didn't excite me, so when Will gave me his opinion he just convinced me of what I was already pretty sure of, that if a change is going to come, it has to be a change for the better.

I suppose in many ways I could be called a hypocrite by some. After all, I am always first to revile someone for having out-of-date information on their website. But here I am with a website that still tells people I live in Birkenhell for goodness sake when in fact I live in the 'sleepy village' bit of Bebington nowadays.

So maybe I'll ditch the 'simon.jones' site altogether in favor of some new addresses. I suppose I should do something with simonjones.co.uk, after all, I do own that domain.

I have even thought about getting rid of 'Meanwhile Back in Reality' altogether in favor of 'Reality Radio, what do you all think of that idea? I have to admit Reality Radio isn't any easier to prepare, in fact, in many ways, it's much harder.

It's coming to a point where decisions have to be made. When I was a kid I was forever changing my bedroom around. I loved change. I haven't ever really been one for keeping something the same because it works. I am more of a person who changes stuff that works because I want to see if I can make something work better. Of course, this used to annoy my Mom who would come into my room in the morning and find me asleep in a completely remodeled room. This would mean that I had gotten up in the middle of the night and worked until sunrise getting everything the way I wanted it. A month later it would all be different again.

'simon jones online' has looked the same for a year now and I am itching to throw it into the mix again. It needs to be freshened up a little. I want to experiment with colors, harsh clashes, contrast, and words. In the 12 months that the last revision of the site was done, I have changed a lot and I think the site should reflect me and where I am at right now. After all, that was the whole point of it in the first place, wasn't it?
